Well the sidewalks are pretty icy here in State College! And classes are cancelled! Not that that affects me at all. I still work tonight. Whooo.
Well I am currently figuring out my snail pattern!
I love these little guys. They're so cute. I might add I little mushroom in between the frogs and snails. I also want to figure out a color pattern! Since I am limited to colors at the moment, I want to keep it simple, maybe 2 or 3 colors.
With the patterns I am creating, I am realizing I should invest in a scanner. I could just scan the pattern and then mess with the color in photoshop or move the pieces around without having to re-stamp an entire sheet. But those things are pricey, so I better start saving!
I made a galette last night and oh. my. goodness. It is so good! It's a butternut squash and caramelized onion galette and was pretty easy to make. The instructions for the crust is different on the blog than it is in the book. It was 2 cups white flour and 1/2 cup of whole wheat flower mixed together and then you get two sticks of butter (I accidentally used salted butter when you're suppose to use unsalted butter.) and pulse it all together in a food processer until it's like cornmeal. The rest is the same, except I didn't use lemon juice.
And I would suggest using the cayenne pepper with the sauteed onions, it really helps. I didn't have any sage but didn't matter cause it's so good. I highly suggest making it. And I was telling Kevin that we should start making more galletes. I've never been disappointed by one.
I completely forgot about AOTW last week so here were go!
ARTIST OF THE WEEK
This woman is amazing. Her work is just a lovely little fairytale type loveliness. It's unique and colorful and she lives in Glasgow. And she has no "professional" training, which gives me hope that anyone can do this if they set their mind to it!
Here's an interview
She's amazing and again want to be her. Her work is magical and I hope my work has half the charm that her's do.
