Not so much as who but more as a what?
My parents were gracious enough to bring it down with them when they came to visit.
It is currently placed in my bedroom, I need to get a lamp and a sturdier table so I don't get ink everywhere.
But yesterday was my first day printing on the press again!
And my goodness, I did not realize how much I missed it! All the ink is on the paper! I can actually see what all my cuts look like, and be able to see the entirety of the print.
I still don't exactly have a "studio" space but you gotta deal with you got.
The print I was most looking forward to seeing on the press was my The Kiss inspired print.
I still have some more cutting to do, but I definitely like the way it's going. This was the first thing I did on the press and I swear I almost teared up because it was so clean! I haven't seen a clean print in months! It was so refreshing.
I bought some flour sack towels to print on, and I did a couple of those yesterday.
As I'm looking at the photos I realized that because it's fabric I probably need to put double the amount of ink on the block because it soaks it up a bit more. I enjoyed printing these a lot. The pattern line up isn't perfect, because I'm human, but it doesn't bother me that much.
So I let these a dry for a few days and I guess I then iron them to set the ink, and then I'm going to test them out, to see if this something I could potentially sell.
My parents visit was nice! They came down last Thursday. Friday we went to the Smokies and Oh. My. God. I knew it'd be busy in October but not to the point where I'd want to pull my hair out. We went to Cades Cove, which was our first mistake. And then we went to the Dome, which was the nail in the coffin.
The only reason we kept going was because it really was gorgeous. I kept saying everything was impressive because it really was! It was just endless mountains and I was completely in awe.
That makes it slightly okay (but really not) that we were stuck in traffic for TWO HOURS. We were driving down the mountain from the dome. I could have hiked the freaking Appalachian Trail and got out of the park faster.
I have decided that the general public is idiotic, people in general are very self involved. So we were stuck in traffic because of a bear in a tree. And people, thought it was okay to block traffic for their shitty photos of a bear's butt. Like this place isn't an amusement park I shouldn't be waiting in line to see a bear. I mean GTFO of the way, what makes you think you can park in the middle of the road? Cause we can't go anywhere. And rangers letting it get that bad is another reason I was so annoyed. Just herd the idiots cause there's A LOT of them.
That got a little ranty, I'm just the complete opposite of those kinds of people, I am very aware of how my actions affect people. I wouldn't stop for a bear because it would block traffic and I'm also terrified of bears.
Oh I didn't even get to the end of the day yet. So because of all the traffic we were in the Smokies from 10ish to like 5ish?!?!?!!?!?! And I was like we need to get out of the park so I suggested to go thru Pigeon Forge, and holy smokes, talk about the cherry on top of the whatever.
I don't even know how to describe Pigeon Forge except that it's HORRIFYING. I know I wouldn't like anyone that would decide to vacation there?
"Why yes could I have a ticket for one for the Biblical Times Dinner Show?"
It was a different world, a fascinating, terrifying world.
Look it up, please, if you want a laugh.
The last day my parents were here we went to brunch and then walked around Market Square, a lot more low key and a lot less traffic. We went to a mexican restaurant, that has such a tiny store front that it can easily be missed, but it was SO GOOD. I love mexican food.
But overall I think they liked Knoxville? We're going to Asheville the next time they visit!
Hope everyone has a safe and Happy Halloween!
I'll just be eating candy, I bought myself.
