Today I was able to do my first proofing of my cards. And also my first proofing in my apartment, it's a little different when you don't have a press. I also used water soluble ink, which i've never used before, but decided to try it because I can't exactly clean oil based inks with paint thinner at home.
I used purple ink, cause why not? haha. Used newsprint for my proofs.
This is my first time using a baren, it was pretty easy to use. I have to be careful not to smudge the ink.
AHH! The grand showing! I was so nervous, I've never cut out words, backwards especially, I had no idea if they would be readable or not.
Overall, for a a first time at home proof, I am pretty pleased! I'm trying to decide whether or not to draw things around the words or just keep it simple? It won't hurt to try. I don't know if I can actually print on good paper without a press or if I could actually use the baren. But this is something I definitely want to keep pursuing, I've always loved quotes and now I might have found a way to use these quotes for printmaking.
Thanks for reading!
So I am trying out blogging? It's kind of a way to keep me on track and to keep me going with my art work!
I'm also trying to take more pictures while I work, to show the process.
I'm excited about the cards. I'm hoping they turn out well.
We'll see how this goes, at the moment, blogging seems pretty awkward and a lot harder to think of things to talk about. haha. But hopefully my work becomes kinda exciting so I can keep talking about it.
