I got a haircut!
You can totally tell the difference, I know. I want it to grow out, so I just got a trim. Getting a haircut is always awkward for me (the introvert). Forced conversation is not a talent of mine, it never flows, and I can never hear the hairdresser over the blowdryer. I wish they'd give up on me.
I tried out new ink, Caligo, it's oil based but you're able to wipe it off with soap and water, possibly the best invention. I never liked washing ink off with paint thinner, but I mean who does?
He's so cute! Since I am without a press, I used a good ol' fashion spoon, that's why there's weird swirly things in the proof. The owl is from the post about the blind owl, with constellations in his eyes. I knew I wanted to make a print of him. I wanted to keep him simple, but I need to round out his head a bit, he seems too flat at the moment.
I put the order in for a press! I'm so friggin' excited and so grateful for amazing parents that want to help me. But until a press comes in, I can't really make editions of anything.
SO I am going to focus on stamps, I love stamps, they are quick to do, you can put them on anything, and you can make patterns.
My next theme is mushrooms, snails and maybe a frog, hence my title today.
I can make a collage or endless patterns. I'm really excited! I've always been fascinated with mushrooms, so I can't wait to draw more.
Artist of the Week:
She is the stamp queen. I love her work.
It's cute but not nauseating. Her cutting is clean, her subjects are always interesting. I have no idea how she registers her prints, I'm lucky if I get an even border.
Also her photos are amazing.
Last but not least, I am working on Kevin's birthday surprise! I told him to not look at my blog so I could post this, I have a really hard time waiting to give presents so I am announcing it to the internet!
If you've seen Grand Budapest Hotel, then you know what this is!
I have a lot of free time, so I made a linoleum of the logo.
I wanted to try to make the box exactly like the one in the movie, but the pink paper I bought was too flimsy, so I used a little box that fit perfectly into the pink box. So it has a lid, which isn't an exact replica, but it's definitely more stable.
Also I am making the pastry! That's how much free time I have.
Fortunately Kevin usually stays away from the house 9-5. So I have all day to get ONE pastry right, and I'm hoping it fits in the box. haha.
Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their week!
Thanks for reading!
State College is suppose to get 2-4 inches today, as long as I don't have to drive I'm cool with it.
Not much has happened this week, I'm trying to change my brand name, and everyone I have talked to has had a different opinion, so I'm still confused. ha.
Some people liked Posy Prints. I just don't know if that's too cutesy. Posy is like a cluster of flowers. I don't know, still figuring it out. I wish I could keep just use my last name, Bronaugh Prints, but it's not an easy name to pronounce and I don't think easy to remember.
My class last semester did a group litho and I saw it up this week!
It's suppose to connect at the edges, which it kinda does? The piece was focused on Trauma, I guess I should've taken a closer picture of my part. Oh well.
I also want to start highlighting an artist I like each week.
Jenn Mann is an artist located in Ontario, Canada. Her paintings are beautiful and I can't wrap my head around how she does her work. I discovered her work on Tumblr, I believe and instantly fell in love with her paintings. Enjoy her website!
I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their week! Thanks for reading.
Here's a panorama of the B&B Kevin and I stayed at.
Oh dear, hello! It has been awhile.
I guess I could say I was focused on school. Finishing that degree. But it was definitely laziness on my part.
But now that I am free from Penn State, I have a lot of free time.
We have a new roommate and she brought her cat, Sebastian.
He's cute, but likes to chase Toffer and also explore EVERYTHING.
Here's some of the projects I did in my final semester, I made a pattern, weird cat, mouth flower thing, wrapping paper, decorative paper print you can't really see and a pretty big body flower print.
The mouth was probably my favorite piece that I've done. I really like flowers and apparently it coming out of body parts. haha. So I have been sketching with that mind set. I like what I am producing.
I'm very lucky to have this cushion while Kevin finishes his Master's. I have no idea where we will end up but It's kind of liberating to not have a clue. I'm looking forward to the future with him and my art and just going to continue to work hard and hope for the best!
