What a week, I can't believe Thanksgiving was only about a week ago?
I had to work Black Friday, which the restaurant is right by the mall, and it was my second day! I managed to survive, but I was very exhausted, it was a long shift.
Well as some of you may know, my cat, Moochie was scheduled for Radio Iodine Therapy for her hyperthyroid. We go in on Monday morning and everything seemed good to go. They said she seems to be a really good candidate for this and they were all excited.
Well I get a phone call Tuesday morning, which was expected from them, and they tell me that she has a fever, and that's it higher then they'd like it be, they said it could be high because of stress but not this high.
My cat is a very anxious cat so in my head I was thinking Moochie could definitely be a higher degree than every other cat, but I am not a vet. They hadn't completely ruled out the therapy yet, so they were gonna keep an eye on her and blah blah blah.
This was the last thing I was expecting, everyone was so positive and ready to go and then they're telling me she has a concerning fever and it might be an infection and that they can't do the therapy!
Of course on Tuesday I had to work lunch, which made getting calls complicated and the vet kept leaving voicemails that were not promising. So work did not go well that day, I was very upset about Moochie, did not want to pretend to care about my customers, and pretty much at the end of my shift I had a meltdown that a few people got to see. ( Not customers, other servers.) They were all very nice about it.
Then on Wednesday they were doing a final test and they didn't get back to me until 4, and by that time I just wanted to go and get her, I knew she was just getting poked and prodded and was probably at her limit, as was I.
We went to go pick her up around 7:30 and they told me that the fever was just the main reason why they couldn't move forward, which is unbelievably frustrating. They said there was probably something dormant in her, and the stress just let it loose. Most likely an infection somewhere. They can't move forward because if she got the shot she would be radioactive and they can't touch her, so if she got sick they couldn't do anything.
So I completely understand why, I just spent a lot of money on something not to happen, and that hurt. aha.
BUT I am moving forward! My little Mooch, has a shaved leg, which you can see above in the photo and a shaved stomach. Moochie did not look good when I saw her, she was not happy. But the moment I brought her home, she was walking around, ate her food up, and was happy to home. I don't know if I have the heart to put her through this again. But I have time to think it over because, she's on antibiotics for what seems like forever, she's back on Methamozole, for her thyroid and I have to give her antiworm liquid shots for something lining her stomach. (She does not like that, not that any cat would, but it took about 10 minutes to get most of it in her mouth.)
Even though I am completely bummed about these turn of events, I am happy she's home and mostly healthy cat. Just gotta force her to take her antibiotics and hopefully her fever goes down and we can start again with this process. (and start saving again)
I've printed some more dishtowels, and I've printed on a tote kind of bad and I really like it.
This might sound depressing, but I'm not really expecting much the rest of this year, just being productive? I'm going to be doing little things, but I think I have two more weeks, until I fly to NYC around Christmas, and before that it'll just be working a lot and focusing on Moochie really.
I'm still trying to figure out this balance thing, how do people not lose energy? Like the moment the sun goes down, I'm down haha. I need to make money but I don't want to dedicate all my time to this freakin restaurant which I feel like they expect for some reason? Yeah I'm little over 2015, ready for a new year. And I think Kevin and I are little over Knoxville too, we just realizing this isn't really the city for us. So we're looking for new things.
